Although always less significant than the property market of its neighbour England, the Scottish real estate market offers good opportunities for investment whether for personal, rental or development purposes. With a range of properties available from within major cities like Edinburgh to outlying island like the Shetlands, although generally experiencing a fairly cold climate there is a high standard of life and strong communities. House prices in Scotland average 50,000 lower than south of the border, with an average sale price of just over 160,000. House prices have entirely returned to the levels prior to the 2008 worldwide financial crisis, but has recovered significant ground and there is much reason for optimism for real estate in this area of the UK.
